Why p0p 8ty4?
It’s quite simply really, nothing profound….
Pop Art is art based on modern popular culture and the mass media (http://www.askoxford.com/concise_oed/popart?view=uk). Street fashion is young people’s fashion: fashion invented and worn by young people rather than by fashion designers, often associated with popular styles of music and dance or with urban subcultures (http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_561508308/street_fashion.html)
Now, if you consider fashion an art form, which of course I do, and take into consideration the above two definitions, you can then consider street fashion a form of Pop Art, n’est- ce pas? Thus the word p0p is used to reflect the blog’s main focus, Jozi street fashion.
So what’s with the 8ty4? Well, I am firm believer that everything you create should reflect a little piece of you, the individual. In fact I try to photograph people whose clothing reflects not only an individual sense of style, but also a part of their character. Thus since this blog is my creation, I feel it should contain an essence of me, which is reflected in the 8ty4; 8ty4 symbolizing the year I was established (born), 1984.
Now, if you take fashion based on popular culture and accessorise it with some spirit of me, you will come up with p0p 8ty4! Okay, now that you know what it’s all about, get back in there, scan the photos, and dress, test, impress and express!
